Julia Domna, AE as or dupondius, Rome mint, 194 AD. Obverse: IVLIA DOMNA AVG, bust of Julia, draped right, hair waved and coiled at back. Reverse: FECVNDITAS, Fecunditas seated right with child at breast; a second child standing before her, SC in exergue. RIC IV, 844, (AD 193-196), rare. Comment of Curtis Clay: "It's Cohen 43, erroneously giving AVGVSTA instead of AVG in the obverse legend. Cohen's first edition, no. 141, does NOT have this error. The coin is from the same obverse die, probably, the same revesre die too, as BM 494, pl. 21.4. This coin occurs as both dupondius (yellow metal) and As (red metal). I was able to determine the exact date of the type in my unpublished thesis: early 194." Contributed by Yuri Kabanov, January, 2006.
