               ORC8547 Hadrian sestert. proto-contorniate VG

     Hadrian, Æ sestertius proto-contorniate, (23.88g) 117 AD, Rome
     Mint, Laureate heroic bust right, drapery on far shoulder. /
     Fortuna seated left, [F]ORT RED in exergue. RIC 652. VG, dark
     patina, the rim hammered all around, in antiquity, for use in a
     military standard or as a gaming token. This issue has reverse
     Fortuna which means "Good luck" . Proto-contorniates were made
     from sestertii by soldiers in the 3rd century.
