Hadrian, AR denarius, poss. from stolen dies. IMP CAESAR TRAIAN HADRIANVS AVG, laureate head right, slight drapery on left shoulder. INDVLGENTIA AVG PP COS III, Indulgentia seated left, extending hand and holding sceptre. Unpublished and illogical with this obverse and reverse legend combination. This obverse legend was used from late 118 to 122 AD but with reverse legends without the name of the deity. This reverse legend is published only for the obverse legend of HADRIANVS AVGVSTVS (RIC 213) 132-134 AD. Not in RIC, Cohen, RSC, Strack or BMC. The dies appear to be genuine, and stolen dies seem to be the logical explanation. With permission of TimeLine Auctions (www.timelineauctions.com), November, 2013
