Description This piece was minted during the reign of Hadrian, who ruled from 117-138 AD. Hadrian is famed as the emperor who built Hadrian's Wall, the massive fortification erected across the northernmost British frontier of the empire to defend against marauding Scots and Picts. He is also known for his extensive travels throughout the empire. The obverse of this type depicts the laureate head of Hadrian facing right, with legends HADRIANVS.AVGVSTVS. The reverse features a star above and within a crescent, globe in the exergue, with legends COS.III. Coin grades F, with clear devices and legends. A nice example of the type, catalouged as RSC-461.
