                                Description

     This piece was minted during the reign of Hadrian, who ruled from
     117-138 AD. Hadrian is famed as the emperor who built Hadrian's
     Wall, the massive fortification erected across the northernmost
     British frontier of the empire to defend against marauding Scots
     and Picts. He is also known for his extensive travels throughout
     the empire. The obverse of this piece depicts the laureate bust
     of Hadrian facing right, with drapery on far shoulder, and
     legends HADRIANVS.AVGVSTVS. The reverse type features Virtus,
     draped, standing right, foot on helmet, holding spear and
     parazonium, with legends COS.III. Coin shows minor pitting on the
     reverse, but otherwise grades F+/F, with clear devices, all
     legends visible, and a bold portrait for the grade. A very decent
     and affordable example of the type, catalouged as RSC-353a. Buyer
     pays postage/insurance, coin shipped on clearance of funds. PA
