Description This piece was minted during the reign of Hadrian, who ruled from 117-138 AD. Hadrian is famed as the emperor who built Hadrian's Wall, the massive fortification erected across the northernmost British frontier of the empire to defend against marauding Scots and Picts. He is also known for his extensive travels throughout the empire. The obverse of this type depicts the laureate bust of Hadrian facing right, with drapery on far shoulder, and legends IMP.CAESAR.TRAIAN.HADRIANVS.AVG. The reverse type features Pietas, veiled, standing right, raising both hands, with legends P.M.TR.P.COS.III. Coin shows a few light hairlines, but otherwise grades a Good VF, with bold devices and legends all around, and a handsome portrait. A very pleasing example of the type, catalouged as RSC-1116. All coins guaranteed genuine without limitations. Buyer pays postage/insurance, coin shipped on clearance of funds. PA residents please add appropriate sales tax. Visa/MC now accepted for purchases over $20. Member ANA, PAN. For more ancients, please visit our WWW site at http://www.philly.infi.net/~mdgeary/ .
