Description This piece was minted in 117 AD, during the reign of Hadrian, who ruled from 117-138 AD. He is also known for his extensive travels throughout the empire. The obverse of this type depicts the laureate bust of Hadrian facing right, drapery on far shoulder, with legends IMP.CAES.TRAIAN.HADRIANO.AVG.DIVI.TRA. The reverse features Pietas standing left, raising right hand, with legend PIETAS across, and PARTH.F.DIVI.NER.NEP.P.M.TR.P.COS. Coin grades a nice VF, with clear to bold devices, most legends visible, and an attractive portrait of Hadrian. A pleasing example of this first year type of Hadrian, catalouged as RSC-1023b.
