AVG, laureate, cuirassed bust right, seen from front, Medusa head on cuirass, fold of cloak on left shoulder / PERINQEWN IWNWN B NEWKORWN (calling the Perinthians "twice neocorate"), city goddess standing left, holding two temples, in left field prize wreath with AKTIA below, in right field prize wreath with apples above and PVQIA below. Schoenert-Geiss 861 (these dies, 3 specimens). Very rare: perhaps only the fourth known example. Green patina. Very fine This piece has an interesting agonistic reverse type commemorating Perinthus' two provincial temples and the two festivals, one of Actian and the second of Pythian character, that were celebrated in connection with those temples.
