            Gordian III. (238-244 AD). Silver denarius (2.56 gm). Rome, 239 AD. 
            IMP C M ANT GORDIANVS AVG, bust laureate, draped, cuirassed right / 
            LIBERALITAS AVG II, Liberalitas standing left, holding coin counter 
            and cornucopia. RIC 45 (R2). Cohen 131 (citing BM). Of great rarity, 
            wrongly called “common” by Cohen. Berk photofile and CoinArchives 
            contain only one other specimen, from the same dies as ours: 
            Schulten, April 1988, lot 683. Reverse weakly struck. Extremely 
            fine.
