    Laureate, draped and cuirassed bust r. Rev: Providentia stg. l.
    holding globe and transverse scepter. RIC 23. aVF. This coin was
    Lot 873 in the celebrated Garrett Collection which was sold in
    1984 by Bank Leu and NFA on behalf of Johns Hopkins University.
    Baltimore businessman T. Harrison Garrett originally acquired
    the aureus for his collection in the 19th century. The coin,
    worn by the standards of today’s gold collectors, has splendid
    old collection toning and an important early American
    provenance.
