            Gordian III as Caesar. (238 AD). Silver denarius (2.72 gm). Rome, 
            238 AD. M ANT GORDIANVS CAES, bust bare-headed, draped right / 
            PIETAS AVGG, priestly implements: lituus, knife, patera, pitcher, 
            ladle, and sprinkler. This coin, and the Paris specimen described 
            and illustrated by Cohen, include a patera among the priestly 
            implements, while the two specimens in BM omit the patera. BMC and 
            RIC fail to record the variant with patera. Cohen 182 (20 Fr.). 
            Eauze Hoard 655 (1 specimen). Reverse type variant of BMCRE 63 and 
            RIC 1. Mint state.
