     Gordian I, Æ sestertius, (12.58g) IMP CAES M ANT GORDIANV[S A]FR
     AVG Laureate, draped and cuirassed bust right. / VIRTVS AVGG
     Virtus standing, head left, resting arm on shield, and holding
     spear, S C at sides. F, green patina, deep scratches on obverse
     fields.

     The AVGG on the reverse legend identifies that there were two
     rulers at the time, Gordian I and II. The lower hairline and less
     long face identifies this as a coin of Gordian I.
