Near VF, brown tone. Ex-Sternberg 33, 73. Kadmos was the legendary founder of Tyre, and it is he who is credited with giving the alphabet, and thus the use of the written word, to the Greeks. Though somewhat obscure today, Kadmos was well connected in his day: his sister was Europa and was the founder of the Greek city of Thebes.
