(28.41 gm).

ROMAN EMPIRE: Gallienus (AD 253-268). AE sestertius
(28.41 gm), Rome, AD 253/4. Laureate, cuirassed bust of
Gallienus right / CONCORDIAE AVGG, Concordia standing
left, holding patera and double cornucopia. Cf. RIC 130
(antoninianus with this reverse but single cornucopia)
and 207 (sestertius with CONCORDIA AVGG, single
cornucopia). See also RIC Valerian 154 (sestertius of
Valerian with this reverse). Glossy brown patina.
Heavily smoothed and tooled. Nearly very fine
Ex Duke of Northumberland Collection.
