Description This piece was minted in the name of Faustina Junior, who was the daughter of Antoninus Pius and wife of Marcus Aurelius, who ruled from 161-180 AD. She was married to Aurelius in 145 AD, and was given the title of Augusta on the birth of her first child in 146. She bore many children, one of whom was the future emperor Commodus. She accompanied Aurelius on his journey to the east in 175, and died at Halala, a village at the foot of the Taurus Mountains. The obverse of this piece depicts the draped bust of Faustina facing right, with legends FAVSTINA.AVG.PII.AVG. The reverse features Concordia seated left on low seat, resting left elbow on cornucopiae set on globe below seat. The legends read CONCORDIA. Coin grades a nice Near VF, with clear to bold devices, all legends visible, and a nice portrait of Faustina Junior. A nice example of the type, catalouged as RSC-54.
