                                Description

     Coin was minted in 218 AD, at the outset of the reign of
     Elagabalus, who ruled from 218-222 AD. Elagabalus was a priest of
     the sun-god Elagabalus, and this is the source of the name that
     this emperor is best known by today. His reign was notable for
     its cruelty, bloodshed, religious fanaticism, and excesses of
     every description, and there was general satisfaction when he was
     murdered on March 6, 222. The obverse of this type depicts the
     radiate, draped, and cuirassed bust of Elagabalus facing right,
     with legends IMP.CAES.M.AVR.ANTONINVS.AVG. The reverse type
     features Mars advancing right, naked save for cloak floating
     behind waist, holding transverse spear and trophy over shoulder.
     The legends read MARS.VICTOR. Coin shows evidence of smoothing on
     the obverse, but otherwise grades a nice F+, with clear to bold
     devices and most legends visible. A nice example of the type,
     catalouged as RSC-113. All coins guaranteed genuine without
     limitations. Buyer pays postage/insurance, coin shipped on
