Elagabalus AR Denarius mule. Rome. 220-221 AD. Obv: ANTONINVS PIVS AVG, laureate & draped of Caracalla right Rev: ABVNDANTIA AVG, Abundantia standing half-left, emptying the contents of a cornucopiae using both hands; star in right field. Mule of obverse: RIC IV-I, pp. 222-237 (Caracalla) and reverse: RIC IV-2, 56 (Elagabalus). This legend and field mark was used only by Elagabalus but the obverse legend and bust is indisputably that of Caracalla, who himself had no ABVNDANTIA reverses struck. Elagabalus had these struck in 220-221 AD, but his obverse legends were IMP ANTONINVS PIVS AVG. RIC 56 was struck only three years after Caracalla's death and so a mule made from coin dies from both emperors is possible.
