BMC 193(Vesp.) 3.47g. Lightly toned. Magnificent style and needle sharp portrait. Scarce type. Pegasus is probably chosen as a reverse type because he stomps the ground to produced the spring of the Muses on Mount Helicon and Domitian was known for attempts at poetry. The type was previously employed on the reverse of an Augustus denarius to commemorate the death of Virgil in 19 B.C. Mint State $2000.00.
