Flavius Julius Delmatius was born to a half-brother of 
Constantine I, and in 335, was given the title of Caesar by 
his uncle. Unfortunately for him, his brother was also 
Caesar, as were Constantine's three sons. More 
unfortunately, when Constantine died unexpectedly in 337, 
his noble idea of shared power among the five young men came 
apart. Within a few months, Delmatius and his brother had 
both been executed, leaving Constantine's three sons to 
divide the Empire as they saw fit.
