Centenionalis of DECENTIUS Item #364981636 Item Sold for $109.00 Ended June 29th. 2000 Seller praetorian This piece was minted at Trier in the name of Decentius, who served as Caesar under his brother Magnentius between 351 and 353 AD. On receiving the news of his brother's suicide, Decentius also took his own life, on August 18, 353 AD. Obv: bare-headed, draped, and cuirassed bust of Decentius right, with legend DN DECENTIVS FORT CAES. Rev: large Christogram between the Greek letters Alpha and Omega, with legend SALVS DD NN AVG ET CAES. Mint/oficina mark TRS in exergue. Small, 21mm flan, may have been struck with dies intended for the double centenionalis. Otherwise, a Good VF, with bold devices and legends where struck up, and choice glossy dark brown surfaces.
