Constantine I. AE3. Heraclea. 330-335 AD. Obv: CONSTANTI-NVS AVG, rosette-diademed, draped, cuirassed bust right Rev: GLOR-IA EXERC-ITVS, two soldiers holding spears and shields with two standards between them. Three dots in a horizontal line above. Mintmark: SMHB RIC VII Heraclea 126 var (obv legend). Rare, unlisted. This obverse legend is not in RIC for this series, though this is the second example in my own collection (my collection numbers: SS348 and SS417). The normal obverse legend is listed as CONSTANTI-NVS MAX AVG and as you can see here on wildwinds, the example above, under RIC 126 (also from my own collection), that obv. legend does exist. Although the reverses appear to be from the same engraver, they are not die matches, neither are my two 126 vars, both mintmarked SMHB. From Dane's collection, August 2010.
