Constantine the Great AE3. 317-320 AD. Obv: IMP CONSTANTINVS AVG, laureate, mantled bust left holding mappa Rev: IOVI CONSERVATORI AVGG, Jupiter standing left, holding globe surmounted by Victory holding wreath, leaning on scepter, captive at foot left, Epsilon to right, SMANT in ex. Officina Epsilon is unlisted for RIC 26; if it were a dot-over-epsidon, instead (and there seems to be no trace of a dot), it would be RIC 25, rated rarity R5 by RIC. Perhaps the only example that RIC could find of that type from the E officina (it is R5 after all so there was only one) had a spot of corrosion or a die chip over the E, and it fooled them into thinking a dot was supposed to be there and so made it a separate type.
