Description Constans, 337-350 A.D. AE 4 of Cyzicus, Sear #3970 (sim.) Grades EF - Nice High Grade Bronze Roman bronzes of the 4th century are fairly common in lower grades - VG/Fine and thereabouts. However, pieces in EF are much more difficult to come by in any quantity. Here is a beautiful bronze AE4 (diameter = 16mm, or about the size of a U.S. half dime) of Constans, youngest son of Constantine the Great. Sharp hairlines, clear inscriptions, nearly perfect centering, and a strong strike make this coin stand out as a superbly well-preserved specimen of later Roman bronze coinage. The image (greatly enlarged to show the detail) speaks for itself. Obverse: Diademmed, draped, cuirassed bust right. D.N.CONSTANS.P.F.AVG. Reverse: Two soldiers standing either side of standard. GLORIA.EXERCITVS.; SM.K.B. in exergue. Grades EF -- dark glossy brown surfaces on the obverse, and light roughness on the reverse which does not significantly obscure the details. Let the image be your guide when bidding. Bidding starts at A DOLLAR. NO RESERVE. All items offered for sale are guaranteed genuine and as described. Shipping Terms: Within the US: Uninsured shipping add $0.55, insured shipping add $1.50, registered mail add $6.50. Our standard shipping day is Saturday. Contact me for international terms.
