RARE Commodus AE30 MEDALLION - NO RESERVE! Commodus, Æ Medallion, 30mm, 31.3 grams Obverse: Laureate and draped bust of Commodus, as Augustus, facing right, in high relief, no legend. Reverse: Commodus stands facing right, sacrificing, with Fortuna, personifying good fortune and prosperity, seated left, holding a ship's rudder. A massive piece. The cut on the obverse may have occurred from breaking off an outer silver collar, or this could be a ''damnatio'' specimen, deliberately defaced after his death by someone who hated Commodus. Gnecchi, Plate 7-3, 19, and like all medallions, quite rare.
