                    Mithraic Castor Aureus of Commodus

    COMMODUS, 180-192 AD. AV Aureus. Struck 178 AD. Laureate,draped and
   cuirassed bust right, seen from behind / Castor standing left holding
   horse by bridle, spear in his left hand. RIC II 648 (Aurelius); BMCRE
      774; Choen 760, Lustrous EF. Very Rare type. Reflects Commodus'
                  initiation into the Mithraic religion.
