Claudius II AE26.8mm of Sagalassos, Pisidia. 9.44 gr. AY K M AYP KLAYDIO-N, laureate, draped, cuirassed bust right. CAGALACCEWN, Ares (?) standing right in military tunic. Not in Aulock, Copenhagen, BMC, France 3, Lindgren, Isegrim, Märkl. Possibly unpublished. Note from Dane: SNG von Aulock list a coin of Hermes, wearing petatos, standing or walking right, holding short caduceus and torch. The known coins of this type have an I or an I and an eagle countermark on the obverse. The reverse type with the warrior Lakedaemon all have him standing left, holding Nike and spear, which this coin clearly is not. It is usual for coins of Sagalassus to have a mark on one side or the other or both, so one could presume that the vertical line on the right of the reverse could be the value mark I.
