Description Coin was minted for Roman Egypt between 42 and 43 AD, during the reign of Claudius, who ruled from 41-54 AD. Claudius was thought to be simple-minded, and a safe choice as emperor for the praetorians who murdered the hated Caligula. It soon became clear that he was not as weak minded as people thought, and in fact proved to be a very capable administrator. In 43, he personally led the invasion of Britain, beginning the Roman occupation of the island that would last into the fifth century. He died in 54 AD, most likely the result of poison administered by his wife, Agrippina Junior, in order that her son, Nero, could assume the purple. The obverse of this type depicts the laureate head of Claudius facing right, with Greek legends for TI.KLAV.DI.KAIS.SEBA.GERMANI.AVTOK. The reverse features a bull butting right, with regnal year LB above. This indicates that the coin was minted during the second year of the reign of Claudius. Coin shows heavy wear, but is otherwise attractive with major devices and regnal year clearly visible, along with a letter or two of the obverse legend. A decent and affordable example of this Egyptian provincial type of Claudius! All coins guaranteed genuine without limitations. Buyer pays postage/insurance,coin shipped on clearance of funds.
