                                Description

                          Roman Coin of Claudius

     This offering is extremely fine bronze coin of the emperor
     Claudius, who reigned from A.D. 41 to 54. The coin is listed in
     Roman Coins and their Values, by Sear, as an AE as. #637. The
     obv. is his bare head left with the letters, TI.CLAVDIVS CAESER
     AVG.P.M.TR.IMP. The reverse Constantia standing left holding a
     spear. The letters, CONSTANTIAE AVGVTSI are around the outside
     and the large letters S.C. are on the centerline. The coin is
     approximately 28mm in diameter. The coin has a rich, even,
     smooth, dark green patina all over. The coin could be rated EF-
     or VF+. The edge shows some corrosion, which does not affect the
     images, see the attached photographs. This is a very nice coin
     for any Roman coin collection. +.
