Nice POP ROMANVS Donative Type AE 4 Item #137094303 Currently $66.00 End3e 08/01/99 Seller praetorian Description Coin was minted at Constantinople circa 330 AD, during the reign of Constantine the Great. The obverse features the laureate and draped bust of the Roman People facing left, with cornucopiae over shoulder, and legends POP.ROMANVS. The reverse features a large star within wreath, with mint/oficina mark CONSS below. RIC classifies these pieces as special donative half-centionales celebrating the dedication of the city of Constantinople. Their silver content is said to be twice that of contemporary Constantinian billon coinage. Coin grades a nice VF, with bold devices and legends, and attractive earthen patina.
