Caracalla Rare denarius Caracalla Rare denarius Caracalla, AD 198-217. A debased silver denarius attributed as similar to Sear 1963. Obverse: Youthful, laureate bust right. Legend is ANTONINVS PIVS AVG. Reverse: Caracalla standing, holding spear and parazonium. At feet to left is river-god reclining. At feet to right are two captives. Legend is VIRTVS AVGG. Condition: The coin is in gF/F condition. At first I thought this might be the copper core of a fouree, but under magnification, it appears that it may possibly be a debased silver coin, possibly a "limes" or frontier denarius.
