              ORC6058 Augustus, Egypt, vending machine token?

     Augustus, Æ diobol, (17.18g) Alexandria, Egypt, First issue. LEW
     UIOV. Head right. / Eagle standing right, wings closed, P behind.
     Augustus continued the types of Cleopatra on his early
     Alexandrian issues. This coin, like most Ptolemaic Egyptian
     bronze which it copied, was of constant weight and size. A Greek
     named Hieron, living in 1st century BC Alexandria, noted the use
     of vending machines as holy water dispensers in temples. (cf.
     Ancient Inventions) This is probably the five drachma coin which
     it accepted. Good F, brown patina.
