PATRIAE; Laureate, right facing bust of Augustus. * Rev: cw - MVN . AVGVSTA . BILBILIS ccw - M . SEMP . TIBERI . L . LICI . VARO; Legend II VIR in wreath. * RPC #392, Cohen #640 * A lovely Spanish Provincial coin of Augustus. RPC indicates this as an early moneyer series piece struck around 2 BC., after the commonly seen horse and rider with couched spear group. There is a short scrape in the center on the reverse that does not detract from the character of this coin {I didn't clean it !!}. The deep blue-green patina and sandy highlighting on this piece creates a nice eye appeal here, especially compared to the more dull Provincial pieces typically seen.
