Description [Take me to the Barry & Darling Home Page] [Image] B&D Home [Image] Marketplace Augustus and Agrippa Nemausus AE27 Collectors Information Attribution: Contact Us Sear 158 - minted at Nemausus in Gallia Narbonensis Obverse : Online The laureate heads of Augustus right and Agrippa left, back to back. 'IMP. / DIVI F.' Ancient Coinand 'P/P' in field below chins. Dealers since 1997. Reverse : 'COL. NEM.' aboce crocodile right chained to palm tree, wreath in field above COL. Grade : gF/gF Notes : A nice example of a popular coin with very good eye appeal. This coin was minted at the provincial city of Nemausus to celebrate the Augustan conquest of Egypt. It features the portrait of Augustus with his general (and heir) Agrippa. The reverse design is an obvious allusion to Egypt (crocodile) and its subjugation (chained to a palm tree). This coin would be an asset to any collection. GOOD LUCK! Click here to view our other auction listings. Our latest Bargain List is now online. Click here to take a look.
