This rare gold issue features a large detailed portrait of the emperor and a beautiful reverse of Constantinopolis. Arcadius reigned from 383 to 408 AD. This coin was minted between 397 to 402 AD. The surface still maintains a remarkably high luster for a coin nearly 1,600 years old! In addition, this exceptional coin is very well struck and centered on both sides.
