Description

     Antoninus Pius (138 - 161), Ephesos mint, AE - Medaillon (38mm)
     Obverse: Head wearing wreath to the right; Geek legend Revese:
     Octastyle temple of Artemis Ephesia, inside of which statue of
     the goddess; Greek legend "EPHESION DIS NEOKORON" The reverse
     legend mentions the second time that specific honours in
     connection with the imperial cult have been bestowed on Ephesus.
     The temple depicted on this coin was one of the Seven Wonders of
     Antiquity. Rare and impressive medaillon.
