            Antoninus Pius as Caesar. (138 AD). Copper as (11.86 gm). Rome. IMP 
            T AELIVS CAE – SAR ANTONINVS, bare-headed, draped bust right, seen 
            from behind / TRIB POT COS S C, clasped hands before winged caduceus 
            flanked by two wheat ears. Bust variety of Strack 906, BMCRE 1948, 
            Cohen 1067, and RIC 1088b. Rare bust variant. Extremely beautiful 
            high-relief portrait of Antoninus Pius as Caesar. Good extremely 
            fine/very fine. 

            This coin shows an unpublished bust type, draped and seen from 
            behind. The draped-bust coins of this type in Paris and Vienna cited 
            by Cohen and Strack (of which C. Clay has plaster casts) show the 
            bust seen from the front.
