                        (7.32 gm).

                        ROMAN EMPIRE. Antoninus Pius (AD 138-161). Gold aureus 
                        (7.32 gm). Rome, AD 149-150. ANTONINVS AVG PIVS P P TR P 
                        XII, bare bust right, with folds of cloak both in front 
                        and behind / COS IIII, Aequitas standing left, holding 
                        scales and cornucopia. Calic¢ 1499 (same dies). Cf. 
                        BMCRE 646, Cohen 237, and RIC 177b (different bust 
                        types). Struck in high relief. Good extremely fine 

                        Apart from the piece illustrated by Calic›, another 
                        aureus from the same obverse die as the present specimen 
                        appeared in Hess-Leu, 7 April 1960, lot 332.
