               Roman Emperor Antoninus Pius 138 - 161 AD as Augustus

                       + AR Denarius
                       + RSC (SRS) 851
                       + ANTONINVS AVG. PIVS P.P.
                       + TR. POT. COS II
                       + Reverse is Felicitas standing left and
                         holding a caduceus and cornucopia.
                       + The height of the golden age of the Roman
                         Empire occurred during the reign of Antoninus
                         Pius. For the most part, his long reign was
                         uneventful. There were a few battles won and
                         lost and he did have a wall built beyond
                         Hadrian's in Britain. However, mostly his
                         efforts were spent maintaining the gains of
                         Trajan and Hadrian.
