                                Description

     Coin was minted in the name of Aelius Caesar, who was adopted by
     Hadrian as his heir in 136 AD. He was appointed governor of
     Pannonia, but he predeceased the emperor, dying of tuberculosis
     on January 1, 138 AD. The obverse of this type depicts the bare
     head of Aelius facing right, with legends L.AELIVS.CAESAR. The
     reverse features Pannonia standing facing, head left, holding
     standard, with legends PANNONIA across the field, and
     TR.POT.COS.II.SC around. Coin is struck on an oblongish flan, and
     shows porous surfaces, but otherwise grades VF, with mostly clear
     devices and legends where struck up, and a solid portrait. A very
     decent and affordable example of the coinage of this much scarcer
     Caesar! All coins guaranteed genuine without limitations. Buyer
     pays postage/insurance, coin shipped on clearance of funds. PA
