                        ROMAN IMPERATORIAL. Julius Caesar. 49 BC. AR denarius 
                        (4.01 gm). Military mint in Northern Italy and Spain. 
                        Elephant with tusks, wrinkled legs and trunk, and long 
                        tail walking right, serpent before, CAESAR in exergue / 
                        Pontifical appurtenances: ladle (simpulum), sprinkler, 
                        axe (securis) with handle terminating in head of animal, 
                        conical hat (apex). CRI 9. RRC 443/1. “S”-shaped 
                        banker’s mark above elephant’s forelegs. Attractive 
                        iridescent tone. Nearly extremely fine
