Colonia Julia Pia Paterna (Clypea?), Zeugitania. AE12. C dot I dot P dot P, bust of Selene (?) right, with crescent on head. VICL dot ANT dot AED, star of eight rays. RPC 5405, listed under Uncertain Coins". Extremely rare, possibly only the second example known, and with clearer legends than the RPC example. The RPC plate coin is in the collection of "JSW" (a collector in Texas, USA) and adds: "The provenance of this unique coin is unknown. The size and the signature of aediles may point towards Parium (RPC 2253-2259); but the regular ethnic of Parium is CGIP not CIP[, which might indicate an African mint like Colonia Julia Pia Paterna, where quattuviri signed an emission under Augustus (RPC 760).
