The distinctive feature of this electrum coinage 
is the solar disc with uraei, the sacred cobras, on the 
reverse. The 45-49% gold content and approx 5% reduced 
weight standard of this issue underline the exhaustion of 
the Carthaginian treasury during the latter half of the First Punic War.
