Æ 19mm (5.62 gm). Estimate $100. Sold For $70 SYRIA, Seleukis and Pieria. Damascus(?) Circa 1st Century BC to 1st Century AD. Æ 19mm (5.62 gm). Diademed head of king right / Turreted and diademed head of Tyche right; N behind, all within wreath. Lindgren III 1633, but cf. Lindgren I A2138A. Nice VF, dark green patina, light earthen encrustation. From the David Freedman Collection. Attribution to Damascus is conjectural (see Lindgren). Although Lindgren refers to the obverse as portraying Zeus wearing a taenia, it is more likely this is a depiction of some eastern king wearing a royal diadem.
