            Governor (50-60 AD) Year 104=55/56 AD. Æ 18mm. Turreted & veiled 
            head of Tyche right / Ram jumping right, looking back; crescent & 
            star above; ET DP (date) below. Hendin 934; RPC I4287. 17.07 mm. 
            3.89 gm. Surface roughness with a near black patina. Near VF and a 
            scarce issue with a fascinating reverse.   

            The reverse design has been interpreted by some scholars as showing 
            lthe amb looking back at star of Bethlehem. 

            Caius Ummidus Quadratus was the Governor of Syria at the time of a 
            bitter conflict between Jews and Samaritans.  Prisoners from both 
            sides were executed.  Claudius, after a hearing, rendered judgment 
            in favor of the Jews.   Hendin p 450.
