            AUGUSTUS (27 BC-14 AD) AE28 Sestertius (27.05mm/15.6gm). Diademed 
            head right/Helmeted Sphinx advancing right SGI 15. Irregular flan. 
            Very Fine/Fine, untouched desert patina. Thick flan at 4.12 mm in 
            width. Late style and most attractive in hand. NOTE: Many of these 
            issues were struck before the time of Augustus, with a portrait 
            resembling Augustus, so it is possible that this portrait is not of 
            the first Emperor.

            The Sphinx was the personal symbol of Augustus, and he used it on 
            his seal ring.
