92. Akragas. Circa 490-480 BC. AR Pentalitron (4.01 gm). Eagle standing left; AKPA / Crab. Toned VF. Apparently unpublished and unique! ($2000) This coin is most similar to Jenkins’ didrachm group III, dated to circa 485. Akragas did issue a few pentalitrai in circa 450, which are clearly identified by the legend PEN. This coin, which is not in any of the major or minor published collections, represents the earliest known drachm-sized issue of Akragas.
