Diademed head of Demetrius I right / BASILEWS DHMHTRIOU, Tyche seated left on throne with winged tritoness support, holding short scepter in right hand and cradling cornucopia in left arm, PA monogram in outer left field. SMA 91. Struck in high relief. The obverse slightly double-struck. Iridescent toning. Extremely fine Ex Commander David R. Hinkle Collection; ex Empire Coins 53, 30 September 1984, lot 440. Newell attributed this issue to Antioch, but the form of the monogram differs from that of the PA monogram employed at Antioch. Instead, it connects this piece to a series that develops to include definitely non-Antiochene monograms above an animal forepart, as CSE 552.
