            CAPPADOCIAN KINGDOM. Issue in the name of Antiochus VII of Syria. 
            (138-129 BC). Silver tetradrachm (16.73gm). , Struck under 
            Ariarathes VI or Ariarathes VII before ca. 104 BC. Diademed head of 
            Antiochus VII right / ΒΑΣιΛΕΩΣ ΑΝΤΙΟΧΟΥ ΕΥΕΡ—ΓΕΤΟΥ, Athena standing 
            left, supporting wreath-bearing Nike left on right hand and resting 
            left on grounded shield, vertical spear in background, ΔΙI monogram 
            above A in outer left field, wreath border. SNG Spaer 1855 
            (attributed to Antioch under Antiochus VII). Stunning obverse 
            portrait with a slightly granular reverse. Mint state/extremely 
            fine. 

            Recent research has revealed that after the death of Antiochus VII 
            of Syria, several Cappadocian kings struck posthumous coinage in his 
            name. This particular issue will be treated in a future article by 
            C. Lorber and A. Houghton.
