According to the information in Coin Hoards VIII, the hoard this coin is from was deposited circa 25 BC and contained at least sixty post-plinthophoric Rhodian drachms. Ashton mentions that sixty coins were offered for sale on the London market, but thinks they formed only a part of a much larger hoard that first appeared in Munich. He catalogues a total of sixty-seven specimens from this hoard in his article.
