Pergamon AR Cistophore, 25.88mm, 11.99 g. 160-150 BC (overstruck ca 131-129 BC). Possibly overstruck by 
Aristonikos (later known as Eumenes III). 

Obv.: Cista mystica with half-open lid, with serpent 
emerging to left, all within ivy wreath. 
Rev: Two coiled serpents with heads erect to left and right 
of an ornamented bow-case. BAS(?) monogram applied post-
strike at upper left, ART monogram applied post-strike (over 
the original PER monogram) at centre left, owl standing 
front in right field.

Coin Hoards CH 8.537, 140; Kleiner 37; Balikesir hoard (IGCH 1326) for host coin. 
A similar coin was sold by Rome Numismatics, E-Sale 20, Lot 371, Aug. 2015, described as Apameia (but the Apameia monogram was A Pi, no A Rho).
